Reception
May
20th, 6:30-9:30pm
Welch-Allyn Lodge, Skaneateles Falls NY
Last years' pre-Summit evening reception was such a success that we are bringing it back this year. The reception will be at the Welch-Allyn Lodge on the evening of May 20. Mingle informally with our speakers and other Summit attendees in front of the fireplace or on the deck overlooking the pond. Enjoy hors d'oeuvres, wine tasting and cooked-to-order pasta.
The reception will be capped by a presentation by Don Rittner, leader of the Onrust Project.
The Onrust Project is a reconstruction of the Onrust, a Dutch yacht and the first ship built in New York in 1614. The Onrust reconstruction is a project of the non-profit New Netherland Routes, Inc., dedicated to rediscovering New York's ancient byways. The original Onrust explored the New York coastal areas and rivers, sailed through the treacherous passage called Helle-gat (Hell Gate) in the East River, explored the harbors of Long Island and Connecticut discovering the Housatonic and Thames Rivers, and sailed up the Connecticut River past the site of Hartford. The Onrust continued on to Narragansett and Buzzards Bays, and Cape Cod.
One special twist to this year's Summit will be a book signing by Vincent Virga. His recent book, "Cartographia", was almost instantly sold out when it was released late in 2007. We have made special arrangements to offer the book at a discounted price of $40 at the Summit (regular retail price is $60), and of course Vincent will be there to sign your new purchase! Creekside Books of Skaneateles will be present at the Lodge to handle the book sales.
