Microcredential Program Ensures Workplace Success
Over the last several years, Monroe Community College (MCC) in Rochester, New York has been working to offer students accessible and affordable GIS education opportunities, including an online GIS Associate’s degree, an online GIS certificate, and an online GIS micro-credential. ESRI has recognized their efforts in an article highlighting MCC’s success in modernizing GIS education with a microcredential to ensure workplace success for graduates.

MCC’s micro-credential consists of three classes:
- GEG 236 – Geospatial Data Acquisition and Management (fall only)
- GEG 237 – Web Mapping (spring only)
- GEG 238 – Introduction to Geospatial Programming (spring only)
Interested or want to take a class? Registration for the Spring 2023 semester is open and our new Introduction to Geospatial Programming course (GEG 238) will be offered remotely on Wednesdays beginning in January. We also have our new Web Mapping course (GEG 237) offered asynchronously online beginning in January as well.
