Rebecca Smith is one of the winners of the 2021 Individual Achievement in GIS Award.
In support of the joint NYS DEC- and NYS DOH-sponsored Drinking Water Source Protection Program (DWSP2), Rebecca Smith led a combined team from four different consulting companies in establishing cartographic and data standards for this statewide project. The project entailed multiple drinking water supply assessments at locations across New York State, with the effort distributed amongst three different GIS project Teams. The GIS activities are actively supporting lead planners and stakeholders with maps and data visualizations intended to improve local protection plans for drinking water supplies. Projects ranged from large urban townships like Brookhaven to small rural townships like Silver Springs. Read more…
