2012 GeoSpatial Summit

The NYS GIS Association is pleased to announce that the 7th annual NYS GeoSpatial Summit will be held on October 24th, 2012 at the Welch-Allyn Lodge in Skaneateles, New York. If you’ve been to past GeoSpatial Summits, you know how good it will be. If you haven’t, then it’s high time you came and found out! The Summit is a unique event where we arrange for not one, not two, but six keynote speakers to share their insights on what’s new and exciting in the broad geospatial world. This is chance to take a step back and think about the overall direction of our field, listen to the perspectives of top thinkers, and mingle with like-minded colleagues in a fabulous setting. This is no garden-variety GIS conference. We have sought out speakers who can share the perspective of long careers as well as those on the absolute cutting edge. This year we are privileged to have Roger Tomlinson, the “father of GIS” on our agenda. Roger is the pioneer who started it all in the 1960’s, implementing GIS to modernize Canadian land planning. And Roger is just one of the featured speakers!

Come spend a beautiful fall day in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. Better yet, come on Tuesday, October 23 so that you can participate in the evening reception at the Lodge. Meet and mingle with the speakers and your colleagues while you listen to the music of Loren Barrigar, enjoy hors d’oevres and cooked-to-order fajitas, and get a copy of Roger Tomlinson’s book “Thinking About GIS” signed for you.
